I’m a Japanese and I tend to call Mac “Macintosh” in 2020

no, I’m not a long time Macintosh user

It looks like Apple itself started to refer its computer as simply “Mac” around 2000. Since then I assume majority of people call it just “Mac”.

My fisrt Macintosh computer was 2007 White Policarbonate Macbook. So yes, it is sold as “Mac”, not Macintosh.

Now, people avoid to call Mac “Macintosh” (see how the guy in the video tried not to say “Macintosh” lol).

Though I still tend to call it Macintosh because of one reason. And it is very much because of my mother tongue, Japanese.

to understand it, you also need to know another one of the biggest companies in the world. No it is not a tech company.

It is McDonald’s.
