Windows11 UX is like Laptop OS
I thought MacOS was the Laptop OS but I changed my mind
I have been considering that UX of MacOS is the best for laptop (only laptop) work. Like brilliant trackpad gesture, its way of handling fullscreen app, Mission control etc.
However, quite recently I began to think there’re several hiccups in MacOS UX ,where Windows11 has advantages.
- Starting applications
In MacOS, you have roughly three ways to start applications. A. Click icons in your dock, B. Open Launchpad by gesture/shortcut key and find the app icons to click, or C. hit shortcut of spotlight search app name by typing.
Dragging cursor by trackpad while you are working on laptop keyboard is a little bit bothering job. I’d prefer not to be away from home-position as possible. So method A or B are not my preferable way(s). (Besides, Launchpad’s organisation is awful unless you get it nicely Konmari-ed)
Spotlight is nice as your fingers are staying on your keyboard, but sometimes, you’d like to just easy-tap on the icon of frequently used apps or you forgot the name of app maybe (well, I do, sometimes).
In Windows 11, it is simple.
Hit Windows key.
and you got this
